Why Jaramillo Landscape?

Water damage is one of the most costly problems a homeowner can face — foundation issues, soggy lawns, and eroded soil add up fast. We don't just dig a trench and hope for the best. We assess how water actually moves across your property and engineer a solution that redirects it away from your home for good.

With 15+ years in Treasure Valley, we understand Idaho's clay-heavy soils, seasonal precipitation, and local grading challenges better than any out-of-state company. Every drainage system we install is built to last, properly sloped, and minimally disruptive to your existing landscaping.

We stand behind our work. If a system we install isn't performing as expected, we come back and make it right.

Our Process

We take a methodical approach to every drainage project — no guesswork, no shortcuts.

1

Site Assessment & Water Flow Analysis

We walk your property during or after rain events when possible to see exactly where water collects, flows, and causes damage.

2

Solution Design

Based on the assessment, we recommend the right drainage system — French drain, catch basin, surface drain, or a combination approach.

3

Marking & Excavation

We mark utility lines, plan the drain route for maximum slope, and excavate precisely to minimize damage to your yard.

4

Drain System Installation

We install perforated pipe, filter fabric, catch basins, and all components with proper slope (minimum 1% grade) for reliable gravity drainage.

5

Gravel Backfill & Compaction

Clean drainage gravel is placed around the pipe, covered with filter fabric, and backfilled securely to prevent settling.

6

Surface Restoration & Water Test

We restore disturbed areas, clean up, and run a water test to confirm proper drainage before we leave your property.

Typical Timeframe

1–3 Days

Most residential drainage installs are complete in 1–3 days. Larger or more complex projects may take longer. We'll give you a clear timeline in your estimate.

Cost Factors

  • Total linear footage of drain run
  • Type of drainage system (French, catch basin, surface)
  • Depth & difficulty of excavation
  • Soil conditions (clay vs. sandy)
  • Landscaping restoration needed
  • Access to drain outlet point

Frequently Asked Questions

Pooling water is usually caused by poor grading (yard sloped toward the house), compacted or clay-heavy soil that won't absorb water, or low spots without a drain outlet. In Treasure Valley, clay soil is very common and dramatically reduces water infiltration.

A French drain is a trench filled with gravel and a perforated pipe that collects subsurface and surface water and redirects it away from problem areas. It relies on gravity — the pipe is sloped so water flows naturally toward a safe outlet like a street, ditch, or dry well.

A properly installed drainage system with quality pipe and filter fabric should last 30–50 years or more. The most common failure is filter fabric clogging with fine soil over time. We use high-quality sock-wrapped pipe to maximize the lifespan of every install.

We work carefully to minimize disturbance. Our crew marks and avoids irrigation lines, replaces sod where possible, and restores disturbed areas before leaving. Some minimal disruption is unavoidable when trenching, but we always leave the property cleaner than we found it.
