Why Jaramillo Landscape?

An outdoor fire pit and patio is one of the most enjoyable investments you can make in your home — but only if it's built right. We design the entire space to function well: proper traffic flow, comfortable seating distances from the fire, and drainage so the patio doesn't hold water after rain.

We build fire pits and patios as integrated outdoor living areas, not just a hole in the ground surrounded by pavers. Whether you want a simple wood-burning fire pit with a basic paver surround or a full outdoor living space with seating walls and built-in features, we'll design and build it.

Every patio we build starts with the same proper base work as our walkway projects — no shortcuts, no thin bases.

Our Process

We design the full space first, then build it properly from the ground up.

1

Consultation & Design

We discuss your vision, layout options, material choices, and budget. We stake out the space so you can visualize the size before we start.

2

Site Preparation

Existing vegetation and material are removed, and the area is excavated to the proper depth for patio and fire pit base work.

3

Base & Sub-Base Work

Crushed gravel is compacted in layers. The fire pit base gets additional depth and a sand or gravel floor for proper drainage and heat management.

4

Patio Paver Installation

Pavers are set on a screeded sand bed, cut to fit, and compacted. Edge restraints keep everything locked in place.

5

Fire Pit Construction

The fire pit ring is built with fire-rated materials, the interior is filled with drainage gravel, and the cap is finished for a clean look.

6

Final Touches & Cleanup

Polymeric sand is swept in and activated, the site is cleaned up, and we walk through the finished space with you.

Typical Timeframe

2–5 Days

A basic fire pit with a small patio surround typically takes 2–3 days. Larger patios or seating walls may take 4–5 days. We confirm the timeline in your estimate.

Cost Factors

  • Patio square footage
  • Fire pit style (simple ring vs. built-in)
  • Paver material selection
  • Seating walls or additional features
  • Site prep requirements
  • Gas line rough-in (if applicable)

Frequently Asked Questions

We build the fire pit structure for gas installations. A licensed gas plumber is required to run and connect the gas line — we coordinate closely with your plumber to ensure the pit is built to the correct dimensions and specifications. If you don't have a plumber, we can refer one we've worked with on previous projects.

For a fire pit with comfortable seating, plan for a minimum 12-foot diameter circle. For a full patio with a table and chairs plus a fire pit, 20–25 feet is a comfortable size. During our consultation, we'll stake out the footprint so you can stand in the space and feel the actual dimensions before committing.

Wood-burning fire pits in most Treasure Valley municipalities don't require a permit if they meet setback requirements (typically 10+ feet from structures). Gas fire pits may require a permit for the gas line work. We'll advise you on local requirements during the estimate and flag anything that may need permits.

Pavers immediately adjacent to a wood-burning fire pit can discolor over time from heat and ash. We recommend using natural stone or concrete block for the fire pit structure itself (not pavers), and choosing the patio area around it in a material that handles heat well. We'll guide you toward the right materials during the design phase.
